On November 24, 2008, our NYC Dads Group was started as a way to connect with other stay-at-home dads in NYC in a similar situation. Theo, one of our stay at home dad members, introduced me to the meet-up website & inspired me to create a network of stay at home dads that want to get together on a weekly basis, during the week while the rest of the city is hard at work. In the past five months, our NYC dads group has formally met 18 times in NYC, and done cool things like visit the MET Museum, Whitney Museum, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, NY Public Library, go to play spaces, participate in music class, gym class, & more.
More importantly, I have gotten to meet a core group of committed & great dads that I feel comfortable talking with about our kids’ development and life in general… and my son has gotten the opportunity every week to socialize and interact with a fun bunch of kids! Our group continues to grow and attract a diverse group of dads from all different backgrounds from with a common goal of avoiding isolation, meeting other dads in a similar situation, and being the best dad they can be. This week we received our newest member, Adam, who became our 70th member. Back in January, Matt Lauer stated that one of the best ways stay at home dads can support each other is to connect with other stay at home dads. We are definitely on the right path!

Maybe we should have a dad’s night out when it hits 100
