Children’s Book Review: Rosie Revere, Iggy Peck, and Ada Twist

January 23, 2017 by Ryan Gross

andrea beaty books

Three of our recent favorite books are Rosie Revere Engineer, Iggy Peck Architect, and newest of the three Ada Twist Scientist. Written by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts, these books all have an underlying theme: Dream Big. The fun part is each story is told from a different child in Ms. Lila Greer’s classroom. When reading one book, your child will have fun seeing the main characters from others in the background.

Rosie Revere, Engineer

Rosie Revere was our first purchase of the series. We loved it so much that we had to purchase the others. The story of Rosie is one of perseverance, determination, and overcoming your fears. Rosie starts creating her inventions from garbage and random trinkets she finds. When she perceives her inventions as not successful, she nearly gives up on being an engineer. Thanks to her great-great-aunt Rose, Rosie has undertaken one last project to help fulfill her aunt’s dream. It turns out it fulfilled both of their dreams!

Iggy Peck, Architect

Iggy Peck, Architect follows young Iggy as he dreams of building great structures from a young age. Starting building with a mound of dirty diapers, Iggy enters Ms. Lila Greer’s classroom and she is not too fond of architecture. Due to an elevator incident when Ms. Lila Greer was young, she has vowed to never talk about architecture in her class! Check it out and see how Iggy saves the day and changes Ms. Lila Greer’s mind.

Ada Twist, Scientist

Ada Twist, scientist is one in which most parents can relate. WHY? HOW? WHEN? Do you remember when your child constantly asked those questions? Ada is that child. She wants to know everything. Unfortunately the constant questions are more than her parents can handle at first. Young Ada was always researching and jotting her notes on the walls. Once her parents realized this was Ada’s passion they embraced her curiosity. Ada’s parents are those who have learned that she has a curiously special talent.

Make sure you check out these books for a fun, beautifully illustrated adventure with the kids in Ms. Lila Greer’s classroom.
