It's another small victory for parent-kind. The New York Times' parenting site has changed names from "Motherlode" to "Well Family," in part to recognize fathers and all family members who participate in the raising of child, according to the site's manager and lead columnist KJ Dell’Antonia. ‘Today,’ Fox 5 Feature NYC Dads Group
In case you missed them among the barrage of other Father's Day stories swamping the news this past week, we had two video prominent placements in the media - national and local. Co-founder Lance Somerfeld is one of four dads featured in this segment on the Today show, What's It Like to Be a Stay-at-Home Dad? Child Abuse: Spanking, Adrian Peterson and My Grandmother
The child abuse incident involving Adrian Peterson of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings is just awful. There's no other way around it. Child abuse is one of those issues we all must take seriously, regardless of whether you have children or work with children. I couldn't be more saddened by the pictures I have seen that are allegedly of Peterson's son after a beating. My wife and I do not believe in spanking. Our intention is to not use it as part of our parenting. We feel we can be effective without it. My mother was opposed to the use of belts and switches, but did spank me.
