After an incredibly challenging year on so many levels, families are eager to start taking back some of their favorite aspects of life. For our family, that includes an adventure to the “Sweetest Place on Earth” in 2021 — Hersheypark.
It’s been a few years since our last visit to one our favorite destinations in the Northeast. Here’s a roundup of the latest and greatest things that has us drooling before our trip to Hersheypark this summer:
Candymonium
We’re thrill seekers and the thing we’re buzzing about the most is conquering Candymonium. Opened on July 3, 2020, in the park’s newest section, Hershey’s Chocolatetown, Candymonium is billed as as the park’s tallest, fastest, longest and sweetest rollercoaster. Hersheypark now boasts 15 coasters with the addition of Candymonium, a steel rollercoaster that peaks at 210 feet high and speeds of 76 miles per hour. Beyond the new coaster, our sugar intake is sure to reach epic proportions as we indulge in all of the new desserts, treats and sweets.
The Chocolatier
New for summer 2021 at Hersheypark and opening this weekend on May 29, 2021, The Chocolatier is the culinary destination we’re most jazzed about. It will feature a restaurant, bar and an expansive second-floor, outdoor patio with grand views of Hersheypark and Candymonium. As the largest restaurant in Hershey, it will feature a diverse menu including chocolate BBQ wings, nachos, chicken and waffles, Reese’s Peanut Butter Hummus, filet mignon rubbed with coffee and Hershey’s cocoa, and a host of other unique options. We’re already feasting our eyes on their dreamy dessert menu because it includes chocolate chip cookie skillets (see photo), S’mores Than Chocolate Cake and ice cream sundaes.
Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor
Just opened this spring, Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor is located in the new Hershey’s Chocolatetown section. What has us salivating is that expert “Ice Creamologists” will craft house-made ice cream flavors and custom creations including Candymonium, Reese’s Peanut Butter, Toasted Marshmallow, and Malted Memories, which is a flavor created using a Spartan Ice Cream recipe developed by Milton Hershey School students, to name a few. Other offerings include a King Size Sundae served with 5 scoops of house-made ice cream, confetti cake, unlimited toppings, fresh whipped cream and a cherry; a “warm” ice cream sandwich; milkshakes; and ice cream floats.
The Sweeterie
The Sweeterie is an all-new confectionery kitchen opened this spring, also in Hershey’s Chocolatetown. Our taste buds are prepared to experience a curated collection of confections including chocolate-dipped treats, hand-crafted fudge, and other mouth-watering desserts.
Mini Donuts
Served in Hersheypark souvenir buckets, the bite-sized donut treats are available in a variety of flavors including powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar and glazed. New offerings this year will include mini donut sundaes! Yes, please!
Fortunately, our family excursion will last several days. We’ll have ample time to ride on our favorite coasters — again and again, plunge down the waterslides at The Boardwalk water park, hug a few Hershey characters, spin on the Ferris Wheel, and spoil ourselves in all of the new tasty delights … almost like being immersed in a real-world Candyland.
Hersheypark, we’re coming for you in 2021!
