The elusive pursuit of moms and dads to “have it all” and how they can help each other achieve work-life balance will be the focus of a free Father’s Day-themed one-hour webinar Thursday, June 9, 2016, featuring one of our NYC Dads Group co-founders.
The 1 p.m. (Eastern time) online event will feature Matt Schneider, who is also the co-founder of the national City Dads Group network, along with Anne-Marie Slaughter whose 2012 “Why Women Still Can’t Have It All” article in The Atlantic stoked the fiery debate about work-life balance for all parents.
The webinar will focus on how to shift the work and family narrative to include men and women on both ends of the debate by valuing care and competition — home and career — in a way that benefits all.
Slaughter, president and CEO of think tank New America, most recently authored Unfinished Business: Women Men Work Family. The book is about how to achieve work-life balance. It pursues the belief that care-giving is as important as bread-winning and that encouraging men to contribute to care-giving would help workplaces support more flexibility for parents.
The event is sponsored by City Dads Group, 1 Million for Work Flexibility and ThirdPath Institute.
