What I miss most about being in Corporate America is…the income…the camaraderie with coworkers…constant adult interaction…Fantasy Football…March Madness NCAA Brackets…Superbowl Boxes…and being able to have a day where you “turn off” the switch and hide behind your computer because you’re tired (or hungover).
As an at-home-dad, I can’t have all of those things anymore. However, being a member of our NYC Dads Group enables me to have increased adult interaction, a camaraderie with involved fathers, and now…a fantasy football league! Our dads group was able to assemble a group of 12 interested dads that were seeking out fantasy football. What’s funny is the guys are participating for different reasons – a reason to talk sports more frequently, to learn the game of football, competition, a hobby, sounded cool, or a chance to win 100 bagels.
We had scheduled our on-line draft late at night, purposely, so we can concentrate after our kids go down to sleep for the night. A far cry from a buddy in Corporate America, who participated in his draft during the work day from 1 – 4:30pm. I asked him why the draft took so long. He said, “they had to have several draft time-outs” as some of the guys had to pop into a meeting.
I am wondering how much “productivity” is affected in the workplace during football season as a result of Fantasy Football…
