Some of my earliest childhood memories are of my time spent with my Dad in the mornings as he got ready for work. It wasn’t a lot of time, but it was nice to have some quiet minutes– just the two of us hanging out. Every time I smell Lubriderm lotion, see a pair of Florsheim wingtips, or hear the bzzzzzz of a Norelco electric shaver, I’m taken back to those moments.
So it was with a tear in my eye, that I opened up my gifts from Philips Norelco– a Vacuum Stubble & Beard Trimmer and a SensoTouch 3D Shaver so I could participate in their “Stache-tacular Shave Off” to celebrate the end of Movember– the month long journey where men around the world have been growing mustaches to raise money and awareness for men’s health.
For whatever reason, though my Dad has used an electric shaver his entire shaving life, I’ve always shaved without electricity.
Not too bad for my first time out. The beard trimmer is great for getting the whiskers down to a shaveable level, and it includes a vacuum that pick up most of the hair that would have otherwise landed in the sink (something my Dad definitely did not have).
I was actually worried about using the electric razor– not quite sure how those little coils work to cut the hair. Then I turned it on, and that familiar BZZZZZZZZ came back to me– how could something so familiar inflict any pain? To be honest, it did kind of hurt, but I’m told my skin will get used to the new method, which I assume is true since men all over the world have been shaving this way for years. The razor also gave me the closest shave I think I’ve ever had, which my wife was very happy with, especially after a month of a mustache.
As I mentioned, Philips Norelco very kindly sent me these gifts in return for my participation their “Stache-tacular Shave Off” along with many members of the Dad 2.0/Man of the House/NYC Dads Group/Dadcentric/Dad Labs Movember team. Many thanks to Philips Norelco for including us in this great opportunity, and especially for it’s financial contribution to our Movember team.
