Richmond dads need look no farther than their own Virginia capital city for the nearest City Dads Group chapter.

Virginia’s capital city is a capital choice for our 27th chapter of City Dads Group.

The Richmond Dads Group will serve the fathers and families living in and around the seat of state government in the Old Dominion state. It is the first City Dads Group in Virginia.

You can find the Richmond group on these social media channels:

The chapter will be headed by Michael Von Bank, a married father of three children ages 5, 3 and 11 months. He and his wife, KatiAnn, write the blog, Cranio Family Blog, which in part deals with their eldest child having craniosynostosis, a condition in which one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of your baby’s skull close prematurely. While the brain continues to grow, the condition causes the head to have a misshapen appearance.

According to Von Bank, he has been the solitary dad blogging voice for children with craniosynostosis for more than five years and he has fully taken on the mantle that is his moniker, Cranio Dad.

Von Bank said he “enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to be the Richmond Dads Group organizer” and, as a full-time working father, he “strives to show other dads that they, too, have it in them, and that community can be a saving grace.”

City Dads Group is a dynamic and diverse community of fathers redefining, by example, what it means to be a dad in the 21st century. Our national support network has more than 8,100 members based in and around major metropolitan U.S. cities. These include Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City.

Founded in November 2008 in New York City as a way a handful of fathers could arrange playdates and outings with their children, the organization went national as City Dads Group in 2014.
