Peek Into Why LEGO Inspires Constructive Play

March 3, 2012 by City Dads Group

Matt & I had the opportunity to attend the annual Toy Fair last week at the Javits Center – billed as the largest toy show in the country!  We have attended Toy Fair for the past three years and always leave inspired to “play” with our children (who are unfortunately not able to attend – rule is no one gets in under 18 – makes sense since I would never be able to get my preschooler to leave) with some of the creative toys and games that are slated to hit the market in the coming months.  Meeting the inventors and questioning the CEO’s of the toy brands we love and respect the most is what makes the experience of attending Toy Fair so special.

Sure, mixing it up and getting educated about new products from Kickboard by Micro Scooters, educational utopia Melissa & Doug, Zingo creators ThinkFun, and more are wonderful, but our fond childhood memories of building imagination and adventure always leads us back to our favorite destination – LEGO!

LEGO’s unique products appeal to a wide age range, age 1 – 16 years old- so basically, you are playing with LEGO almost until adulthood…and when you become parents, the clock resets, and you find yourself enjoying them all over again, but through a different lens.  We could significantly increase the word count of our post by explaining the intricate details and awesomeness about many of the LEGO products due out this year.  Instead, we thought this highlight reel of our pictures may sum it up best!
