I know lazy parents. Lazy parents are friends of mine (not you, Brendan!). I am a lazy parent. However, using the phrase “because I said so” is not lazy parenting. Not all the time. There is almost always an ulterior motive to our parenting, whether the goal is as simple and selfish as having a child who cleans up after himself (so you don’t have to do it) or as grand and altruistic as raising your kid into a kind, successful adult (so he can take care of you when you’re older and hooked on heroin). Every two weeks our daycare hosts a movie night on Fridays for any younger children in the neighborhood. A few hours of fun for the kids, and some well deserved together time (and time off) for parents. Every two weeks we use these nights as incentive for Olivia to get up in the mornings without fussing or fighting. Every two weeks she is *this* close to not going because she is adamantly, overwhelmingly and undeniably not a morning person.

I found your Parenting Trends to Watch for in 2015 and WOW -- WHAT A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT! The author started off slow, hoping we wouldn’t notice, with mindful consumption and mindful parenting.
