The heartbeat within the walls pounded around me, as the walls pressed closer and closer with every beat. Boom boom … boom boom … boom boom. The kids were fighting. Homeschool papers and books were scattered across our large table. The baby was crying for affection. Dishes overflowed from the sink onto the counter. From Where I Sit, Parenting is an All-Around Activity
If you walk into my house during dinner or during a movie night, you can tell my parenting style from where I sit. And there is a reason I sit where I do. The house I grew up in was arranged like most houses during the 1970s and '80s. Our living room showcased the hierarchy of the home. A couch and a loveseat lined up along the walls opposite one another while my father’s recliner received a direct view of the television. Dorney Park: Water, Roller Coaster Fun a Short Ride from NYC
My family was stressed and tired. We needed a break. My house was undergoing a major renovation. For several months, all six of my family members slept in the living room because of the mess and debris scattered around the house. It finally got to us. We needed to get out and get away fast. We wanted to do something fun together. I have extended family in the Allentown, Penn., area and used to visit Dorney Park as a kid.
