Two of us New York City stay-at-home dads wanted to take advantage of the abundant sunshine and 60 degree temps today. Where to go when you have no plan? The Central Park Zoo, of course! After a long and isolating winter, Central Park and fresh air were a great remedy today. We had full reign of the place today with no lines and no crowds, as most people were at work. It is not a huge, but when you have an hour or two, you can see most highlights including the sea lion show, awful smelling penguins, a polar bear swimming laps, and the children’s petting zoo. On a weekend, it’s jammed, compared to a weekday like today, when it’s a pleasure!
One little-known deal worth sharing with you (but gaining more exposure), is that the Central Park Zoo is part of the NYC Wildlife Conservation Society. This society also includes the Bronx Zoo, NY Aquarium in Coney Island, Queens, and Brooklyn Zoo. Therefore, you can take advantage of their Membership Family Pass, which you can obtain for as little as $120. This gives you, a guest, and up to two kids free annual admission to all five wildlife park locations and free parking passes along with 16 park attraction passes. In these hard economic times – based on the significant cost of the admission prices, this family pass pays for itself and then some after only a few visits. Take advantage now as the weather warms up and see you soon at the zoo!
