Milk, Protein, Marriage Negotiation, and Triple H

September 9, 2013 by City Dads Group

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post for which we have been compensated by MilkPEP, the people behind the long running Got Milk? campaign. Today (September 9) is the first day of the #WatchMilkWin Sweepstakes. Tweet to win!

Connect the dots – marriage negotiation, a vegetarian kitchen, milk, protein, and Triple H. I’ll give it a shot.

My kitchen is vegetarian. I’m not vegetarian, my two boys aren’t vegetarian, but my wife is vegetarian. It’s a long story that I’ll save for another day, but we agreed not to store, cook, or serve meat in our house as part of a protracted series of pre-marital negotiations that every couple should be having.

One of the biggest challenges of maintaining a vegetarian kitchen is making sure we are all getting enough protein. Milk has always been part of that equation, but I just recently learned that all that milk my kids have been drinking is giving them an even bigger protein boost than I expected!

I recently had the opportunity to attend the launch of the Protein Fight Club campaign which is highlighting milk’s 8 grams of protein in every 8 ounce glass. The very clever series of videos pit milk again other breakfast foods– orange juice, omelets, bagels, breakfast burritos.

As part of the launch event, I got to meet and chat it up with power couple Triple H (aka Paul Michael Levesque) and Stephanie McMahon of WWE fame. We discussed their love of milk, sharing the parenting load, the challenges of raising kids. Some fun takeaways:

Matt with Triple H and Stephanie discussing
the need for Matt to increase his protein intake.
  • Triple H and Stephanie are both active parents to three daughters. They are both very involved in all aspects of childcare including breakfast choices, school involvement, and social media boundaries
  • Milk, as you would expect is a big part of their family’s diet.
  • All three daughters are kept entirely out of the WWE limelight
  • The couple’s daughters are all young, but future boyfriends should steer clear of the Levesque girls if they know what’s good for them.
Overall, it was fun see the dynamic between Triple H and Stephanie. This is a family in the spotlight and it seems like they’re facing many of the same challenges the rest of us are. That said, even though we share the value of milk in our family’s life, guessing that we don’t share a vegetarian kitchen.
