Missing the Moment: Dad Lessons in Camera Operation (Video)
Has your kid done something extraordinary (like, all the time!) and you whip out your phone or camera, only to miss it by a few seconds? Well, it happens to us all the time! This time, however, we actually caught one of our L.A. Dads Group co-organizers Juan Pablo on camera trying to film his son's first attempt at surfing. We won't give away the hilarious story...but the moral of the story might just be that we should all just "be in the moment" with our kids a little bit more often, rather than watching our kids through our phone or our camera. Whatever you do, first enjoy our short film … [Read more...]
Fodada – Fun for kids and adults that helps others in need
L.A Dad Group Member Felix Barajas recently attended a Fodada event in Southern California, so we thought it would be a great idea to share his experience and a recent City Dads Group blog post about Fodada's mission and "fun-raising" initiative. … [Read more...]
Juan Pablo talks about his first DAD 2.0 Summit experience
We, the LA Dads Group, brought a member of our group for his first time to Dad 2.0 Summit, a dad blogger event. We asked him if he would write about his perspective about his trip. He agreed and I am very excited to introduce, Juan Pablo Delgado. We had the pleasure of meeting Juan Pablo over a year or two ago, his beautiful family and his company, My Custom Insoles (which if I wasn't wearing these over the weekend, I would have had some serious sore feet!). It is awesome to have him be part of our LA Dads Group. Let's check out what he has to say! My first DAD 2.0 Summit … [Read more...]
City Dads Talk with Marc Webb about his new movie Gifted
The highlight of my Dad 2.0 Summit 2017 experience was when I had the privilege of moderating an exclusive talk with Marc Webb for the City Dads Group. If you are not familiar with Marc, I am sure you know his work. He is a producer and director, known for 500 Days of Summer (2009), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). We got to chat with him about his new movie coming out, Gifted. Gifted Gifted caught my attention because it tugged on that "fatherhood string." I mean, what would happen to my boys if something were to happen to my wife and me? I can't … [Read more...]
Good Stuff Kids Podcast Interviews LA Dad Eli Lipmen
I recently spoke with the Good Stuff Podcast creator Mike Mason about the LA Dads Group and City Dads Groups across the country. Good Stuff Podcast is a great listen for both parents and kids...and my kids love listening to Mike and his kids talk and sing songs while we are driving in our car! We talked about how I became a stay-at-home-dad, how I got involved in LA Dads Group, and what it means to be a dad in the modern world. We also touched on the Dad 2.0 Summit and getting free stuff like carriers, car seats, etc. as a member of City Dads Group. You can listen to my interview starting … [Read more...]
The Goldbergs and Dr Ken
I got to join a few pretty cool blogger moms as they toured Sony Studios earlier this week. We were invited to tour the sets for both The Goldbergs and Dr Ken as well as enjoy a few minutes of questions and answers with some of the cast, crew and others.
The Goldbergs: In the 1980s, geeky Adam uses a video camera to document his family's crazy life. His mother, Beverly, is overprotective and lacks boundaries, while his dad has a hot temper and finds it difficult to parent without screaming.
I was born in the early 70's, so … [Read more...]
What L.A. means to me
I moved to Los Angeles about 12 years ago following a business opportunity. I was growing tired of the gray weather in Seattle and jumped at the chance to start a new chapter in my life. What wasn't exciting about L.A.? Disneyland, Hollywood, amazing beaches and more. When you first arrive in Los Angeles you are as much a tourist as those who are just here to visit. The city is a hot spot for sightseeing, people watching, movies, concerts, sporting events, shopping and beaches. The list is nearly endless. And when you move here you do all that. Then, after a while, you begin to get a … [Read more...]
