Happy Father’s Day!

June 17, 2018 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

Happy Father’s Day  Sunday 8:30am: I am making a bagel while putting away clean dishes, waiting for my coffee to be done brewing and singing along with Pearl Jam. My boys are watching Larvas on Netflix in the living room and my wife is back asleep in bed (she was probably up at 5am with Mason). Miles turns 8 this Saturday. This is my 8th Fathers Day?!?! This is fatherhood at it’s best I am not bragging, but more enjoying this parenting bliss that can go as fast as it comes. The first full week of summer had a bit of a rough beginning but ended amazing. I feel like I am standing … [Read more...]

Why does safety matter?

We were invited by Britax to join them at Safe Kids Day, a family-friendly event to benefit the life-saving programs of Safe Kids Worldwide. Why is Safe Kids Worldwide so important? FACT: PREVENTABLE INJURIES ARE THE #1 KILLER OF U.S. KIDS Saving lives is a decision we can all make every day. Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization dedicated to protecting kids from unintentional injuries, the number one cause of death to children in the United States. The Goldbergs and Dr Ken

I got to join a few pretty cool blogger moms as they toured Sony Studios earlier this week. We were invited to tour the sets for both The Goldbergs and Dr Ken as well as enjoy a few minutes of questions and answers with some of the cast, crew and others.

The Goldbergs: In the 1980s, geeky Adam uses a video camera to document his family's crazy life. His mother, Beverly, is overprotective and lacks boundaries, while his dad has a hot temper and finds it difficult to parent without screaming.

I was born in the early 70's, so … [Read more...]

A Lesson in How Toys Are Made and Tested

One of the great things about the City Dads Group is the opportunity to partner with awesome organizations and companies to learn about what they do…and have some fun! Last week, we had the change to visit the Mattel Imagination Center. This is the place you always dreamed existed as a kid—like hoping that Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory is a real place—because this is where the toys are thought up, designed, and then tested. While it wasn’t a room full of chocolate, it was pretty darn close. The Imagination Center is located at Mattel’s El Segundo Headquarters and is a series of rooms … [Read more...]

What L.A. means to me

LA beach with kids

I moved to Los Angeles about 12 years ago following a business opportunity. I was growing tired of the gray weather in Seattle and jumped at the chance to start a new chapter in my life. What wasn't exciting about L.A.? Disneyland, Hollywood, amazing beaches and more. When you first arrive in Los Angeles you are as much a tourist as those who are just here to visit. The city is a hot spot for sightseeing, people watching, movies, concerts, sporting events, shopping and beaches. The list is nearly endless. And when you move here you do all that. Then, after a while, you begin to get a … [Read more...]
