Go! To the Movies

July 25, 2018 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

Coming this summer... Oh wait it's here! Looking for a great family friendly movie to see this weekend? This is a movie everyone in the family will be laughing! My boys have all kinds of shows they watch most of which I do not watch with them. Except for Teen Titans Go - a follow-up to the popular "Teen Titans" series takes a more comedic look at the superheroes, showing what life is like for the teens when their capes come off. Funny things happen to Robin, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and Cyborg between saving the world and being regular teens, living together without adult … [Read more...]

Happy Father’s Day!

June 17, 2018 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

Happy Father’s Day  Sunday 8:30am: I am making a bagel while putting away clean dishes, waiting for my coffee to be done brewing and singing along with Pearl Jam. My boys are watching Larvas on Netflix in the living room and my wife is back asleep in bed (she was probably up at 5am with Mason). Miles turns 8 this Saturday. This is my 8th Fathers Day?!?! This is fatherhood at it’s best I am not bragging, but more enjoying this parenting bliss that can go as fast as it comes. The first full week of summer had a bit of a rough beginning but ended amazing. I feel like I am standing … [Read more...]

Will my kids ever drive?

May 27, 2018 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

I should ask will they ever need to drive? Technology has been advancing at such a rapid pace that in 10 years instead of getting a driver’s license or having a casual conversation with the Uber or Lyft driver my boys will probably call an automated car through an AI device installed in everyone’s house. I know there are many people that haven’t ever driven nor ever will need to. In certain cities, such as New York, it is not a big deal. In other cities, such as Los Angeles, it is necessary to be able to cross town (As the song goes, nobody walks in Los Angeles). By the way, LA is doing a … [Read more...]

Why Los Angeles, besides the weather?

LA beach with kids

I have been living in Los Angeles for 12+ years now. I left Seattle not only to avoid the overcast, dreary days but to chase an opportunity. There are a few things I miss about Seattle, but I especially don’t miss the weather. LA has provided me with more than I could have imagined. I met my amazing wife and we had two incredible boys. My wife and I cannot think of a better place that we would want to live and raise our boys. Why Los Angeles, besides the weather? In Los Angeles, we can find anything we want and we can find things we didn’t even know we wanted. We can see concerts large and … [Read more...]

Why does safety matter?

April 25, 2017 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

We were invited by Britax to join them at Safe Kids Day, a family-friendly event to benefit the life-saving programs of Safe Kids Worldwide. Why is Safe Kids Worldwide so important? FACT: PREVENTABLE INJURIES ARE THE #1 KILLER OF U.S. KIDS Saving lives is a decision we can all make every day. Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization dedicated to protecting kids from unintentional injuries, the number one cause of death to children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost 1 million children die of injuries each year. That is all we needed to hear, we are thankful to … [Read more...]

Juan Pablo talks about his first DAD 2.0 Summit experience

February 17, 2017 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

We, the LA Dads Group, brought a member of our group for his first time to Dad 2.0 Summit, a dad blogger event. We asked him if he would write about his perspective about his trip. He agreed and I am very excited to introduce, Juan Pablo Delgado. We had the pleasure of meeting Juan Pablo over a year or two ago, his beautiful family and his company, My Custom Insoles (which if I wasn't wearing these over the weekend, I would have had some serious sore feet!). It is awesome to have him be part of our LA Dads Group. Let's check out what he has to say! My first DAD 2.0 Summit … [Read more...]

City Dads Talk with Marc Webb about his new movie Gifted

February 17, 2017 by Trevor Mulligan 3 Comments

The highlight of my Dad 2.0 Summit 2017 experience was when I had the privilege of moderating an exclusive talk with Marc Webb for the  City Dads Group. If you are not familiar with Marc, I am sure you know his work. He is a producer and director, known for 500 Days of Summer (2009), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). We got to chat with him about his new movie coming out, Gifted. Gifted Gifted caught my attention because it tugged on that "fatherhood string." I mean, what would happen to my boys if something were to happen to my wife and me? I can't … [Read more...]

The Goldbergs and Dr Ken

October 20, 2016 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

I got to join a few pretty cool blogger moms as they toured Sony Studios earlier this week. We were invited to tour the sets for both The Goldbergs and Dr Ken as well as enjoy a few minutes of questions and answers with some of the cast, crew and others.

The Goldbergs: In the 1980s, geeky Adam uses a video camera to document his family's crazy life. His mother, Beverly, is overprotective and lacks boundaries, while his dad has a hot temper and finds it difficult to parent without screaming.

I was born in the early 70's, so … [Read more...]

Hitting a home run

September 15, 2016 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

I love being a stay at home dad for my two boys. I have been asked multiple times if we are going to try to have a girl. We are not, two is enough and we are very happy. I have also been asked if I think I would raise a daughter differently than I would my boys. No! If I had a daughter I would do exactly what I am doing with my boys. I know I would have a different relationship with a daughter (as with every child they are never the same), but I wouldn't change the way I parent. I allow my boys to choose what interests them and allow them to try things even if it may not be "fit for boys". … [Read more...]

It’s that time again–the ? and? of back-to-school

September 15, 2016 by Trevor Mulligan Leave a Comment

It's that time of the year again. Back to school. As a stay-at-home dad, this is a sad and happy time for me. Sad because I won't be spending as much time with my boys, happy because I won't be spending as much time with my boys. There really is such a thing as too much together time. My ears ring even when they aren't with me from them screaming and yelling so much. Then again I honestly can't believe how fast summer came and went.

In all seriousness, this is a time of heighten emotions, new experiences and most of all changes. As a parent, in an attempt to … [Read more...]
