‘Happiest Baby’ Dr. Harvey Karp Helps Dads Calm Their Babies

The Happiest Baby on the Block author Dr. Harvey Karp appears on our newest show to tell us about his unique methods for calming crying babies, and how dads play a critical role in the process. The Los Angeles-based pediatrician also tells listeners about the SNOO Smart Sleeper, a groundbreaking crib and swaddling system Karp developed with MIT-trained engineers and designer Yves Behar.

Karp, one of the world’s most renowned baby and sleep experts, is part of the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Medicine as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His books and videos of The Happiest Baby on the Block, The Happiest Toddler on the Block and The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep have been translated into dozens of languages. Karp is the also founder and CEO of Happiest Baby, a smart-tech and parenting solutions company.

Karp is also an advisor to Parents, Ser Padres and American Baby magazines. He also serves as a pediatric expert on the BabyCenter website. He has been a spokesman on environmental issues for the National Resources Defense Council, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the California Department of Health.

Also appearing on the Modern Dads Podcast is City Dads Group columnist and author of The Parents’ Phrase Book Whit Honea who talks about why he thinks parents should encourage their teenagers to cry.
