Don’t settle for just a necktie this Father’s Day, NYC Dads Group members and all fathers throughout the boroughs. Instead, come join us the night before your big holiday to play, drink and dine as we raise a glass to celebrate Fathers Eve.
The 2018 Fathers Eve NYC party starts at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, June 16, with a flag football game at the Morningside Park softball fields in Manhattan. Two hours later, the fun moves to The Harlem Tavern for food and an 8 p.m. raising of the glass to toast fathers around the world.
“This is a brilliant way to get dads from all walks of life in NYC playing and celebrating together at a worthy and well-earned event,” said NYC Dads Group member Joe Mackie, who is organizing the 2018 Fathers Eve NYC events of behalf of our group.
Fathers Eve is the brainchild of John Francis, a co-organizer of our Twin Cities Dads Group in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota. He first gathered several of his dad friends in a residential garage in night before Father’s Day 2012 to break bread, drink beers, and swap stories about fatherhood while offering each other support in their efforts to become better parents. Fathers Eve has been growing every year since with more than 40 events planned around the United States in 2018. Each event culminates with a toast to fatherhood at 8 p.m. local time.
NYC Dads Group, with help of the national Fathers Eve organization, will provide some of the evening’s food and offer a free drink ticket to the first 50 attendees.
You do not have to be a NYC Dads Group member to join our local celebration this year, but you must register online at https://fathersevellc.wildapricot.org/event-2840809 When doing so, note which borough you will be representing and whether you will be at both the football game and the tavern party or just one of them.
