‘Dangerous Book for Boys’ Star Discusses New Amazon Prime Series

March 26, 2018 by Kevin McKeever

Maybe you’ve read the best-seller, The Dangerous Book For Boys — a collection of tongue-in-cheek advice for boys on topics such as how to climb a tree, build a go-kart and grow a crystal.

If you have (or haven’t), you can now watch the television series based on it.

But first, you should listen to our latest Modern Dads Podcast featuring one of the show’s young stars, Gabriel Bateman.

The series, debuting on Amazon Prime March 30, follows the McKenna family as it copes with the untimely passing of patriarch Patrick (Chris Diamantopoulos), a whimsical inventor who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His death leaves the family reeling, but hope appears in the form of “The Dangerous Book for Boys,” a handbook Patrick created to help his three sons through childhood. The how-to guide inspires fantasies for his youngest son, Wyatt (Bateman) who, while in his fantasy world, reconnects with his father and learns life skills.

The Dangerous Book for Boys series is based on the book by Conn and Hal Igguldenwas, and was created by by multi-Emmy-winner actor Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and director Greg Mottola (Superbad, Adventureland). It also features veteran actress Swoosie Kurtz and Erinn Hayes (Children’s Hospital).

The Dangerous Book for Boys was required reading in the house of podcast host and City Dads contributor Whit Honea. His 12-year-old son, Zane, will join in to share his thoughts on the book, the show, and his dad’s overall job performance.
