• What we’ll do
The Frisco RoughRiders are the double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and have several of the organization’s top 25 prospects on their roster. We’re trying something different this year – sitting on the sloped grass lawn in the outfield. This will give our kids a chance to take in the sights and sounds of the game without being confined to a seat in a row. It’s also cheaper than the cheapest group deal we can get for the seated areas. On Sundays, the Riders open the field for fans to play catch before the game (for this game that will be 3:05-3:30). Kids can run the bases after the game. Every Sunday there is a $1 ice cream sandwich promotion as well. If you are not planning to play catch on the field, the game itself starts at 4:05.
• What to bring
A blanket or towel to sit on (no chairs are allowed), and your baseball gloves and a ball if you want to participate in the pregame catch on the field. Food and drinks are not allowed except for sealed water bottles with the label removed. Sunscreen and a cool towel will probably be good as well. You can bring a backpack but it will be searched at the gate.
• Important to know
EDIT —- if you go to a participating Kroger, you can pay $7 for the lawn tickets and the ticket also will get you a voucher for a free hot dog. I just tried it and got mine this way. Definitely this seems like the best deal! —- Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office (if available). I’m told the grass lawn seats rarely sell out but if this game is unusually popular it might. The ticket price on line in advance is $7.57 with a $1.50 service fee, and the price on the day of the game at the box office will be two dollars more per ticket.
