The Ultimate Father’s Day Guide to Gift Guides

June 7, 2016 by Jeff Tepper 2 Comments

Father’s Day is coming up soon, and of course it’s a big thing for us.  We have a huge pre-Father’s Day meetup that combines a family fun day and a charitable lemonade stand at Dave and Busters this weekend, and are celebrating Father’s Eve with a Dads Night Out on Saturday the 18th.

Father’s Day also means gifts, and for dad bloggers, gift guides.  If you need a gift for a special dad in your life, you’ve found the right place.  We don’t publish our own gift guide, so instead I’ll give you a rundown of some of the ones I liked, and you can go from there.  Please note the items I mention are just some of what is available on each of the gift guides. Be sure to check out each for the full lineup.

No, most of us don't want another tie for Father's Day.

No, most of us don’t want another tie for Father’s Day.

  1. Double Trouble Daddy’s guide comes strong with a plethora of typical types of gifts that end up being anything but typical.  The Aureus golf shoes are some of the most stylish I’ve seen, but the real gem here is the Thread Lab clothing service.  It looks like you order some clothes by mail, send them back if you don’t like them, and over time the service learns what you like and what fits you best and the orders become more accurate.  There’s a few more ideas in here, and also a giveaway for the Ultimate Book of Dad Jokes.
  2. TopDaddies’ guide has the most item suggestions, and a whopping six giveaways.  Everything from photo note pads to powertools can be found here.  The items sway more toward functional than novelty, so if you’re looking for a more serious gift, it can probably be found here.
  3. Brent Almond, aka Designer Daddy‘s guide is filled with style, and I wouldn’t have expected anything else.  The 1Up Box subscription service seems like it will fullfull any geeky/gamer dad’s wishes, and there is a perfect T-Shirt for any dad regardless of interests from The PopLyfe Shop.  If you like the 9 items on the guide, be sure to enter the contest to win ALL of them! While you’re on Brent’s site, check out the store for his super lunch notes, meant to be packed with your child’s lunch each day.
  4. Rob Ainbinder of Digital Dad did an all-barbecue theme to his guide.  I’ll take one of everything on here, please.  I also like that he highlighted the correct style of barbecue, choosing a Texas-themed book for the guide.  Sorry, St. Louis and Carolina.
  5. You might have heard of LunchBox Dad from his artistic themed kids’ school lunches that look better than anything you or I could do.  His guide is very eclectic, with everything from the most sophisticated rubber band gun I’ve ever seen to a very reasonably priced mountain bike.  However, the real winner here looks like the ANKI overdrive racecar track.  He says you have to see it to believe it, and I haven’t seen it yet, but the description did enough to have me intrigued.
  6. I wrote that we weren’t creating our own gift guide, however if we did, the WeMontage photo wallpaper would definitely have made the cut.  You upload several (your choice how many) of your photos to the website and pick the size and layout you want.  You then get in the mail a piece of removable wallpaper that you can stick on any wall in your house.  Whether you just want a 3’x4′ piece to highlight a special trip, or whether you want to literally wallpaper an entire room with your photos, this is the place to do it. I got one for my wife for Mother’s Day last year, and people always ask about it when they come to our house.
