Lessons learned from being an imperfect parent and from being the preferred (and not-preferred) parent came from the lips of two City Dads Group members, bringing many smiles, a few tears and much applause from the audience gathered at the annual Dad 2.0 Summit in San Francisco last week.

Dave Lesser and Christopher Persley, both members of our NYC Dads Group outpost, were two of five featured speakers in the conference’s blogger “Spotlight” reader series.

The Dad 2.0 conference, held since 2012, attracted approximately 350 attendees along with major sponsors such as Dove Men+Care, Kia automobiles, Esquire Magazine and Lego toys. This year’s event even received a preview from Time magazine’s website.

Persley, a part-time teacher and father of one,  spoke about his willingness to show his young daughter that he is flawed his work “3 Life Lessons from an Imperfect Father” from his The Brown Gothamite blog:

You can read more about his speaking and conference experience in “Dad 2.0 Summit 2015 or The Brown Gothamite Hits the Streets of San Francisco” on his blog.

Lesser, a stay-at-home dad of two, talked about the pros and cons of being the go-to parent in “Being the Primary Caregiver Doesn’t Mean Being the Favorite Parent. And Sometimes that Really Sucks” from his blog Amateur Idiot / Professional Dad:
