Just Like Members of the “Entourage” Posse

Earlier this week, 50 City Dads Group members from Boston and Chicago were treated to the ultimate Fandango VIP experience — attending the big screen premiere of Entourage in their respective cities with their own “entourage,” their fellow fathers.  We appreciate the support from Fandango Family in providing City Dads with a golden opportunity to get a bunch of active and busy fathers to take a break in the action for a dads night out at the movies.

After seeing the film, here’s what a couple of our dads had to say:

“Epic! Entourage the TV show was a great story about a group of friends fiercely loyal to each other and determined to succeed. The Entourage movie was a great way to cap it off seeing each character find their personal success through their commitment to each other,” said Eric Bennion of Chicago Dads Group. “Not a bad message for our ‘Chicago Dads Group entourage’ to take away from it. As Ari Gold would say, ‘Hug it out,  bitches!'”

Boston Dads Group co-organizer James Mahaffey said, “Vince and the boy’s desire to remain committed to their creative passions and principles, even when faced with professional exile has been a constant theme of the Entourage franchise, and I’m glad it played an integral part in the film. They ‘win’ not just because of this commitment to their dream, but their commitment to each other. Beneath the money, sex and power of Hollywood it remains untouched. I don’t want to give away any spoilers … but, everybody was in the film — so many amazing cameos.

To celebrate this event, we asked a handful of our nearly 4,000 members nationwide how their fellow City Dads Group fathers are like the members of the Entourage posse. Here are some of the responses:

“Just like the dads in the City Dads Group, all of the Entourage guys come from different backgrounds and clash every now and then, but they also have each other’s back … most of the time. In the name of fairness, we did have a couple of guys who didn’t see a connection between their fellow City Dads and the Entourage crew:

“I watched one episode (on TV) and felt the need to punch all of them in their larynx.” — Jason Greene, NYC Dads Group

Then we had those who had never even seen Entourage during its original HBO run:

“What is this Entourage show you speak of? Does it come on after Cailliou?” — Beau Coffron, San Francisco Dads Group

“I’ve heard of it but never watched. Maybe because I lived it with my friends from college?” — Chris Bernholdt, Philly Dads Group

Then we had one member, Creed Anthony of our Indianapolis Dads Group ,who really got into it:

“1. Our co-founders, Lance Somerfeld and Matt Schneider, are constantly swinging deals like Ari. They are architects of dreams that come to fruition.

“2. The Entourage crew is navigating unfamiliar turf in L.A.; we are navigating the ever fluctuating turf of parenthood – OR the Internet.

“3. Like Vincent Chase we have our own A-list superstars – Beau Coffron, Lorne Jaffe, Jeff Bogle, Trevor Mulligan (Mr. Super Bowl), Chris Routly, Chris Bernholdt, to name a few. These guys star in commercials, have work published in books and major web site, go viral, and on and on.

“4. The Entourage guys always seem to have each other’s backs. We joke and chide each other, but at the end of the day, I am 100 percent positive each City Dads Group wants the best for each of the other groups. We celebrate victories, problem-solve issues, laugh and support.”
