Daddyshome Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting fathers who serve as primary caregivers for their children just took one gargantuan leap forward. The multi-faceted Daddyshome website, http://www.daddyshome.org/, has just gone live! This is the same organization that plays host to organizing the annual at-home-dads convention, an event that has taken place for the last 14 years.
Now, Daddyshome Inc. will be known as the national presence connecting dads across the country. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of resources when I first made the choice to become an at-home-dad two years ago. Did an NYC Dads Group exist? If so, how do I go about finding it? Where were the other dads in the local community that were in a similar role? If I am travelling to another city, how do I connect with other at-home dads? Our group has done a solid for many dads locally, but what about nationally? Daddyshome Inc. aims to fill this void to be the positive resource I wish I had when I first became an at-home dad.
The website is a resourceful compendium for at-home dads in several ways: the site lists many of the dads groups located in different cities (so you can determine if a local group already exists that you could join), makes it easy for existing groups to list their group, assists dads in making the decision to start, grow, or maintain a dads group, includes recent data , a blog, and information about the upcoming convention in Omaha.
Quote me on this, as a dad who knows many guys don’t like to ask for directions – This will be one of the best one-stop resources for at-home dads to ever come out! So, please share it with others that may need a gentle nudge for guidance…
