Ross Feldman, a co-organizer of the Charlotte Dads Group, and his son at a balloon fest in 2018.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Our ongoing feature series this week features Charlotte Dads Group co-organizer Ross Feldman, a married father of a 6-year-old son. He helps host the group’s fatherhood podcast — the appropriately named Charlotte Dads Group Podcast.
City Dads Group: How long have you been a member of the Charlotte Dads group?
Ross Feldman: Five years, since 2015.
What motivated you to join the group’s leadership?
I like to support organizations that align with my personality and beliefs. My dad was a working, but active, dad and I want to be one as well. I like to have a community around me to help support that model.
What has been your favorite activity/event so far with the Charlotte Dads Group?
Dads Night Out, hands down! It has allowed me to meet so many new people, and explore every corner of Charlotte with like-minded people.
What has been your favorite experience with your kids that’s unique to your city?
I have found so many great resources (check out Charlotte on The Cheap!) and cool places to take my son that I did not know existed.
What are some of the challenges you and your leadership team have faced? How did you work past them?
Every month and year brings new challenges, but we are all different people with different backgrounds in leadership. That brings the unique perspectives we need. We are always looking for more people to bring on to the leadership team or groom for a future position in leadership if they are not quite ready yet.
What do you hope to achieve with your group in the next year?
We have grown to over 500 members so now we want to build our event coordinator network so we have events in every corner of the metropolitan area at all times of the day and week to cover all bases.
