EDITOR’S NOTE: Not many people realize how much work goes into running one of our City Dads Group chapters. This new feature series will spotlight some of our group organizers to help others learn about their experience. We start with Miami Dads Group co-organizer Ozzy Rosenberg.

City Dads Group: How long have you been a member of the Miami Dads group?

Ozzy Rosenberg: “I have been part of the Miami Dads Group for a little over two years now.”

What motivated you to join the leadership of the Miami Dads Group?

“My kid and seeing the lack of dad representation here in South Florida. I know so many dads, but we had no real place to come together.”

What has been your favorite City Dads’ activity/event?

“One of our favorites was the Teen Titans Go! to the Movies screening. We had a great turnout and were able to chit chat a bit and continue to get to know our members.”

What has been your favorite experience with your kids that’s unique to living in Miami?

“We have been exploring more of our city. We have really enjoyed the farmers’ markets and city parks around town. Park days seem to be some of the best days for my 4-year-old and 4-month-old. Enjoying the sunny days around town with the boys, my wife and friends are priceless, and we often feel like tourists in our city.”

What are some of the challenges you and your leadership team have faced? How did you work past them?

“Member turnout and communication continues to be the biggest challenge this year. We post on our social media pages regularly and share our adventures to get more engagement.”

What do you hope to achieve with your group in the next year?

“This year, I hope to add a few more regular members and have a more consistent calendar of events. Having a newborn put me out of commission for part of 2019. We are trying to get 2020 off to a good start.”
