Car crashes are the No. 1 cause of death for children under age 13, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Many of these deaths — along with other child-in-car injuries — could have been prevented if only a car seat, booster or seat belt had been used properly.
Unfortunately, nearly three out of every four car seats are not used correctly.
In recognition of this being national Child Passenger Safety Week, City Dads Group will continue its efforts to try increase parental knowledge about how to keep kids safe in vehicles by hosting “Is Your Child in the #TheRightSeat,” a webinar 9 p.m. Eastern time ( 6 p.m. Pacific) Wednesday with car seat safety expert Sarah Tilton from stroller and car seat maker Britax.
Topics will cover car seats from birth to booster, such as:
- Are you using your car seat correctly?
- The First Car Ride: Bringing baby home safely
- Your Toddler’s Next Seat: How to choose the right convertible car seat
- Forward Facing vs. Rear Facing in a Car Seat
- Using public transportation with children
Sign up and watch the #TheRightSeat webinar on our Meetup page.
There will also be several giveaways of Britax car seats, but you will need to be follow along via Twitter for a chance to win the prizes. Log on to Twitter that night and follow #TheRightSeat, @Britax and @CityDadsGroup
This culminates City Dads Group efforts of the past year to increase parental knowledge about how to keep kids safe in vehicles. City Dads Group outposts in nine U.S. cities have hosted workshops for moms and dads to teach them about car seat use and installation and answer their questions about issues such as car seat use in airplanes and taxis.
