Descanso Gardens is a lovely place for both little kids and adults alike. Every third Tuesday of the month, admission is free. Right now, lots of pretty things are blooming. Bring the kids and come check them out with other dads! Moms welcome too.
(Free) TICKETS REQUIRED for non-members. Available here, starting at 10am on Tues 4/30/19. Limited quantity, so put it on your calendar to snag ’em! https://www.descansogardens.org/programs-events/calendar/action~agenda/exact_date~5-21-2019/
Meet in front of the shade canopy that covers the little bridge with a ticket checking podium at the entrance to the gardens. To get there, enter the main gate from the parking lot, pass the ticket booth on your right, then the cafe on your left, and then the bridge/podium/canopy will be straight ahead.
Look for event organizer, Joel Dahl, with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old. Day-of, I’ll post what color shirt I’m wearing.
Pro-tip: for anybody who feels like arriving super-early (event organizer can’t do this, hence 1:30 start time) and wants to get there before noon, Descanso Gardens usually runs their “Enchanted Railroad” in the morning on their free Tuesdays. Enchanted Railroad is not free on free-admission Tuesdays, and costs $3/rider. https://www.descansogardens.org/visit/plan-your-visit/
