The group Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Minnesota has invited our Dads to attend their very first event for Dads: Pints for Pops. It will be at Modest Brewing on November 15th. Edit: To clarify, PPSM wants this to be an adult night of support and networking. I’m going to say this should be a Dads Night, or perhaps a Date Night, but not a Dads with Kids event.
Let’s lend our support to an organization that is recognizing a serious issue that affects Dads too. Postpartum depression is often thought of as a Mother’s problem only, partially because people simply don’t know that Dads can experience it. Even if you didn’t experience PPD, if someone you know has you know just how devastating it can be. Raising awareness is a tool we have at our disposal, and Twin Cities Dads Group will always support organizations that support families.
From their invite: “Come join us for this fun event that is to honor dads!
Did you know that 1 in 10 new dads will experience postpartum depression? And there is an even higher risk if his partner is also having a postpartum mood or anxiety disorder. The risk is also high for dads who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or infant. The problem is that dads often go unrecognized, for a variety of reasons.
We need the community to know that dads mental health matters to!
Join us to share in this experience, AND have a pint! Have some fun, and meet other dads. No registration necessary- just come!”
