Gentlemen, save the date and make plans to attend Fathers Eve. As many of you know, our own John Francis started Fathers Eve in his garage a few years ago. A celebration of dads, Fathers Eve has grown. This year, there will be over 40 Fathers Eve celebrations. So what is Fathers Eve? It’s the night before Father’s Day, and it’s a celebration of everything about dads. Being a dad, celebrating your dad, acknowledging the positive influence dads had on you and your world. At 8:00 local time, we raise a toast to Fathers everywhere.
The St Paul event is hosted by our friends at O’Garas. There is food, fun, games, a silent auction, a bean bag tournament, and a whole bunch of just good conversation and fun. Sponsors this year include Budweiser, Sport Clips, Dino’s Gyros, Baby Bjorn, Smartypants Vitamins, City Dads Group, The National At-Home Dad Network, and The FATHER Project. Tickets are by handled by Eventbrite and are $20. Please see the information below to learn what buying your ticket supports. Twin Cities Dads Group is making this our June Dad’s Night Out. As this is really a signature event for us, I encourage everyone to clear your calendar to attend. This event will have representatives from the other Fathers organizations of Minnesota attending (see below) as well as the Fathers Eve guys who really make this event possible. It’s a fun time, and a great chance to socialize and connect. We support them, and in turn they have supported us. And really, that’s what both Fathers Eve and Twin Cities Dads Group are all about.
This is also a way for us to help other dads. Fathers Eve donates proceeds to two organizations that support dads. Locally, Fathers Eve helps support The FATHER Project, a program run by Goodwill Easter Seals of Minnesota. This program helps men connect with, and give support to, their children. Their mission statement: “To assist fathers in overcoming the barriers that prevent them from supporting their children economically and emotionally.” More info about the FATHER Project, and how you can help support their cause can be found at their website:
Nationally, Fathers Eve supports The National At-Home Dad Network. NAHDN is the nation’s largest non-profit that promotes advocacy, support and community to dads that are primary caregivers for their children. The Network’s signature event is the At-Home Dad Convention. 2017 will be the Convention’s 22nd year, and will be held in Portland September 14th-16th. John, Keith, and Chris will be attending the Dad Con this year, and we’d like YOU to attend as well.
