Dad 2.0 Summit conference co-founders Doug French and John Pacini discuss Dad 2.017, coming to San Diego next week.

Dad 2.0 Summit enters its record-breaking sixth year when it comes to San Diego, Feb. 9-12. On the Modern Dads Podcast, we have conference co-founders Doug French and John Pacini preview this year’s event — a national three-day meeting where marketers, social media leaders, blogging parents and regular dads get together to discuss the changing voice and perception of modern fatherhood.

On this Modern Dads Podcast, — also known as Dad 2.017.

Our talks covers how the conversation has evolved since its 2012 start in Austin — where a “doofus dad” diaper ad from Huggies had fathers up in arms — to today’s more politically charged and activist environment. French and Pacini discuss how the conference team continues to work to bring a greater diversity of voices the table and about the potential risk for social influencers as they enter the political fray.

Dad 2.017 should be its largest summit yet with more than 425 attendees expected, Pacini said. This year’s event will include new big-name sponsors Facebook and Russell athletic wear as well as returning favorites Dove Men+Care, Kia motors and Best Buy. (Disclosure: City Dads Group is an associate media sponsor for the event.)

City Dads Group columnist Whit Honea ends this podcast with his thoughts on surviving the first days of the Trump presidency.
