Hey, y’all — the Austin Dads Group has become the second Texas chapter of the national City Dads Group social and support network.
Matt Norman will serve as organizer of the Austin Dads Group. Norman, 36, is married with three children — a 5-year-old daughter, and 3- and 1-year-old sons. When not tending to his family, he writes the blog And So It Has Come to This.
“As an at-home parent, I’ve struggled with the isolation that seems to plague a lot of at-home dads. I’m looking forward to meeting other involved dads. I’m hoping Austin Dads Group can grow to a point where we can be a valuable resource for dads across the greater-Austin area,” Norman said.
The Austin chapter is the second Texas outpost for City Dads Group, following Dallas, and the 24th in total.
City Dads Group is a dynamic and diverse community of fathers redefining, by example, what it means to be a dad in the 21st century. Our national support network has more than 5,000 members based in and around major metropolitan U.S. cities including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Founded in November 2008 in New York City as a way a handful of fathers could arrange playdates and outings with their children, the organization went national in 2014.
