Congratulations to our friends and partners in paternal parenting at the National At-Home Dad Network for throwing a successful annual dads convention, its 19th, in Denver over the weekend.
More than 100 dads attended, up from 73 a year ago, and the event and its mission received some good press in the Denver Post and a spot on the local Fox 31 news.
The event’s opening video, an overview of the changing attitudes toward fathers being more involved in everyday parenting, prominently featured City Dads Group co-founder Lance Somerfeld:

More than 80 At-Home Dad Convention goers attended a rooftop party at the Colorado Rockies’ game on Sept. 18 in Denver. Our Denver Dads Group sponsored the event.
The dads convention weekend featured a keynote address from Barbara Coloroso, author of Kids Are Worth It; workshops on enhancing parenting skills; and a service project involving the Food Bank of the Rockies. One of the convention’s many highlights included a party atop the rooftop deck at Coors Field during a Colorado Rockies baseball game, sponsored by our Denver Dads Group.
While stay-at-home dads are doing the same job as stay-at-home moms, their methods, interests and challenges are vastly different. Connecting with other at-home dads removes the isolation some stay-at-home dads feel and provides a peer network for support. It also empowers at-home dads to rally against stigma that others may have against men who leave the workforce to care for their children.
