A Story About Halloween With a Community of Dads

November 5, 2010 by Guest Contributor

Here is a creative guest post from photographer and very active member of the NYC Dads Group, Adam J.

On a late October day in Lower Manhattan, a gathering took place of beings and creatures so bizarre, so wild, so out of this world that it would be difficult to believe, if not for the security camera footage found at the scene. Where did they come from and why are they here? This we may really never know . . . but here is what I think transpired:

Dim the lights and run the slide show, Schneider . . .

Here, it appears an eight-tentacled octopus is trying to commandeer a giant bee and giant ladybug for some sort of adventure.

costumesTheir first encounters were with what one would call a Transformer- A creature from the 80s that has regained popularity as a fierce fighter and protector of good. This one went by the name of Lucas Optimus Prime. (sounds Latin to me…). Once on the Yellow Brick Road they met a hungry scarecrow named Theo?

So they asked a fairy princess named Sara for help and she waved her wand and poof: Juan Valdez and Grace the Candy Corn Queen arrived to shower them with coffee and candy.

Jake the StoveAlong the way to whatever-land, they bumped into, a whole cast of characters . . .

There was Keiko the Monkey,

Fred FlintstoneBut it was clear that this Fred was looking lost himself, so they all trundled on until they reached an old and very wise little creature, Jasper the Jedi Knight, who gave them the following advice: hmm. yes, yes my creatures. seek you a spotted Butterfly and you shall find your place to be, hmm yes yes go now young paduans.

Jasper the Jedi KnightThey all found the spotted butterfly perched on top of a large man who looks like he might run marathons. (Good luck this weekend, Gil!)

butterfly Sage the Spotted Butterfly pointed them the way and at last they found what they were looking for all along.
