New York Times: Another Prime Example of an Involved Father

We had to share the wonderful article that the NY Times featured this weekend in the Sunday Styles section with a spotlight on one of our active NYC Dads Group members, Adam Gertsacov, his wife Stephanie, and their little guy, Aaron.  I have known Adam for over two years now, admire his story as a professional clown, and his blogging, and enjoy his camaraderie at our numerous events (even when his fantasy football team destroys mine)…so of course, I enjoyed the depth of this well-written piece by Amy Sohn, For Their Next Act.

Adam, an at-home dad among (many) other things, “has no regrets about shifting from ringmaster to homemaker. “I was afraid I would resent being tied down and that I wouldn’t love my kid,” he said. “After he was born I realized my fears were completely unfounded. Now I have new fears, like the fact that when he turns 18 I’ll be 61.”

Adam shares some sound advice on his secret recipe to avoiding arguments with his wife:
Asked why they seldom argue, they credited technology and a smart suggestion. At their Aufruf, a Jewish ceremony before their wedding, couples in their temple offered advice. According to Ms. Schwab, “the most elderly couple in our synagogue stood up and said, ‘We have two pieces of advice for you — separate bathrooms and separate televisions.’ ”
